Exclusive meeting of Ould Cheikh with four international and Amman in London

New York – UN Secretary General Ismail Ould Cheikh and the representatives of the four countries – Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Britain – plus the state of Oman, have been due to meet in London.

The sources said in a statement to the editor of the news agency “Khobar” for foreign affairs, that the meeting will be held this month, aimed at reviving peace consultations to resolve the Yemeni crisis, which stopped more than a year ago.

The sources pointed out that the meeting will seek to re-activate the truce committees in Yemen, noting that the members of the Security Council expressed their interest in the expectations of Ould Sheikh, which will emerge from the meeting of the five.

The UN Security Council is seeking a new approach to the confidence-building measures package.

In a related context, the US ambassador to Yemen, Matthew Toler, revealed a meeting expected for the ambassadors of the major countries with the UN envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh

In a meeting with Foreign Minister Abdulmalik al-Makhlafi, Toller said that the upcoming meeting will discuss the development of a new mechanism to revive political consultations in Yemen.

Toller stressed that his country is committed to providing political, economic and humanitarian support and exerting all efforts to reach a peaceful solution in Yemen

The UN envoy to Yemen announced last Tuesday that “is discussing a proposal that includes a humanitarian initiative to rebuild confidence and the steps necessary to bring the parties to the Yemeni conflict back to the negotiating table”

In a briefing on Yemen to the open session of the UN Security Council, Ould Cheikh said he would discuss the details of the proposal with the government of Hadi and the Sanaa alliance, pointing out that the latter coalition committed to participate in another discussion on the details of the proposal
