Sudan: A Sudanese journalist was jailed for criticizing Omar al-Bashir’s family and accusing her of corruption

A Sudanese court on Monday sentenced a prominent newspaper editor to six months in jail for publishing an article accusing the family of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir of corruption, a journalist told AFP.
The same court sentenced the author of the article, which was published in 2012 to 3 years suspended

“The court ordered me to pay ten thousand Sudanese pounds (equivalent to 1428 US dollars) or six months in prison,” said Othman Mirghani, editor of the independent daily Al-Tiyad,
“I decided not to pay the money and now I am waiting for the authorities to take me to jail,
